     [The rest of chapter 28 has lots of neat and useful stuff.  Read it between semesters.]

     Read  section 28.3 at least through page 564.

    Read section 27.2 [at least skimming the 2 pages in which the identity in theorem 27.1 is derived].

    At the end of chapter 27, do: (3), 4

    (At least look over section 27.3 on Duhamel's Principle -- it's got some stuff in it you are likely to find useful in applications.  At the end of chapter 27, do:  5)

    Read section 16.5, and do # 3 & 4 at the end of the chapter

    Read section 16.6 [it's just one page], and do all of # 5 at the end of the chapter [Yes! All of it!  It's important that you can do these types of problems in your sleep!]

    (Skim chapter 17 on "springs".)

    Read section 16.4.

    At the end of the chapter, do all of # 2.

    Read section 16.5 at least to formulas (16.6) on page 350.

     Read chapter 16 through section 16.3.    At the end of the chapter, do all of # 1, and then do # 5c using the material discussed today along with "reduction of order".

    Read  sections  14.1 and  14.2.   Be sure you know and understand theorem 14.1

    At the end of chapter 14, do: (1), 2, 3

    Read  section  14.3.   Be sure you know and understand theorem 14.2.

    Read sections 13.1 and  13.2, and, at the end of the chapter, do: 1a--f,(g),h,i,(j,k,l)

    Read all of sections 12.2  and 12.3 [especially example 12.2 on page 266], and, at the end of the chapter, do: 7a -- e,(f,g&h), 8a,b(&c )

    Read section 10.7 and do # 17 at the end of the chapter.

     Read chapter 10 through section 10.5, and do the following at the end of the chapter: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

    Read chapter 10 through section 10.3, and do the following at the end of the chapter:  2, 3, 4, 5, (6) [but at least read problem 6]

 

 

Wed, 9/12

    Read chapter 8 through section 8.2.  At the end of the chapter, do exercises 2 -- 7 [for your sketches, you may want to download these problems from the text's website], (8*) [* at least read exercise 8]

    Also, at least skim section 8.3 on "Long Term Behavior" (and, maybe, section 8.4 on "problem points").  (Then do exercise 9 at the end of the chapter).

 

 

Mon, 9/10

   Finish reading chapter 6.  At the end of the chapter, do:  2, 3, 4a--h, (rest of 4), (5)  [Do  2 after reading section 6.3, and  3 after reading section 6.4.] 

 

 

Fri, 9/7 

    Read section 5.2.  At the end of the chapter, finish:  2a,c,e,h,i; 3a,c,e,f; rest of 2, rest of 3 [Typo alert:  In 3d, "2(dy/dx)"  should be  "x(dy/dx)".]

     Read sections 6.1 and 6.2.  At the end of the chapter, do:  1

      Finish sections 4.3 & 4.4.  At the end of chapter 4, do:  7a--h (i--o), 8a--c (d--f), 9

    (Skim sections 4.5, 4.6 & 4.7). 

    Read section 5.1.  At the end of the chapter, do: 1   

    Read section 5.2.  At the end of the chapter, start on:  2a,c,e,h,i; 3a,c,e,f;

 

 

Fri, 8/31

    Finish section 4.2, doing in-text exercise 4.1 on page 81.

    Read sections 4.3 & 4.4 [We'll discuss this material further next Wednesday].  At the end of chapter 4, start on:  7a--h (i--o), 8a--c (d--f), 9

    (Skim sections 4.5, 4.6 & 4.7).

     "Lightly read" section 3.3, and do exercise  5 at the end of the chapter.
